Chief Minister Vijay today announced the formal expansion of the 'Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme' to cover all government-aided schools across Tamil Nadu. The policy, aimed at addressing nutritional deficiencies among primary students, will now include a mandatory 'Millets-based' menu rotation to boost local agricultural support. The Secretariat has allocated an additional ₹450 crore for the current fiscal year to facilitate this rollout.

Opposition leaders have raised concerns regarding the logistical implementation in remote districts. However, the CM’s office clarified that the 'Makkalodu Vijay' grievance portal will be integrated to track real-time feedback from parents and school management committees. The scheme is expected to benefit an additional 8.5 lakh students starting from the next academic cycle.

District Collectors have been instructed to finalize local procurement contracts by the end of the month. This move is seen as a cornerstone of the TVK government's social welfare agenda, aiming to stabilize attendance rates in rural educational institutions.
