DMK Leader Stalin Slams TVK Regime Over Urban Infrastructure Delays

Stepping up opposition pressure, DMK President and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin launched a sharp critique against the ruling TVK administration, accusing them of administrative lethargy and stalling crucial urban infrastructure projects initiated during the previous regime. Addressing party functionaries at Anna Arivalayam, Stalin pointed out critical delays in underground drainage works and stormwater drain projects across Chennai and Madurai, warning that incomplete works could cause severe waterlogging during the upcoming northeast monsoon season.

The opposition leader argued that despite tall promises made during the initial months of the 17th Assembly, the current government has failed to disburse adequate funds to local municipal bodies, leaving civic administration crippled. He highlighted that garbage clearance management has deteriorated in several suburban municipal corporations, causing immense hardship to residents. Stalin announced plans for a state-wide fact-finding tour by DMK legislators to inspect stalled civic projects starting later this month.

Political analysts view this aggressive posture as part of the DMK's strategy to consolidate urban voter base grievances as the government approaches its six-month milestone in office. Government spokespersons have yet to officially respond to the specific allegations, though departmental sources maintain that monsoon preparedness reviews are actively underway across all coastal districts.
