Chennai Metro Phase 2: Poonamallee-Porur Stretch Targets November Trial Runs — Key Stations & Traffic Plan
CMRL accelerates track laying and third-rail electrification on Corridor 4 to launch crucial driverless train trials by November 2026.
Why this matters to Tamil Nadu
Drastically reduces peak-hour travel time between Poonamallee and Porur from 45 minutes to just 15 minutes. Alleviates severe traffic congestion along the heavily congested Mount-Poonamallee High Road corridor. Integrates western suburban residential hubs directly with the core Koyambedu and Alandur transit grids.
