What happened: - A loaded cement lorry lost brake control while descending the slope near Andimadam Junction at 8:30 PM - The vehicle was heading toward a crowded bus stop with approximately 30 people waiting - Sub-Inspector Murugesan and two constables on patrol immediately identified the runaway vehicle - Officers quickly cleared the bus stop and redirected the lorry toward an open field using traffic signals and hand gestures - Vehicle came to halt in the open space without any casualties - All 30 bus stop commuters were safely evacuated in under 60 seconds Follow-up action by SI Murugesan: - Lorry driver tested — found to be sober, mechanical brake failure confirmed - Vehicle sent for mandatory repair before road clearance - Spot inspection of the slope gradient initiated — recommended rumble strips and warning signage Ariyalur community and district transport officials have praised the officers for their presence of mind and quick action.
