Seizure details: - Location: Private residence, Vinayagar Koil Street, Chinnasalem, Kallakurichi - Approximately 800 kg of illegal firecrackers found stored in two rooms and an attic - No licence for firecracker storage — required under Explosives Act 1884 - Items seized include: ground chakkar, colour sparklers, atom bombs, and string crackers - Storage location surrounded by 12 residential houses on all sides - A single spark could have caused catastrophic explosion endangering entire street How it was found: - Tip-off received by Kallakurichi SP office from an anonymous caller - Police team from Chinnasalem station arrived and confirmed the storage - House owner absconded — police searching Police action: - All 800 kg seized and transported to designated safe storage - Case registered under Explosives Act 1884, Section 5 and 9 - Investigation ongoing — supply chain being traced This was an enormous risk to public safety — neighbours were completely unaware of the danger next door.
