An overflowing open storm water drain on Gandhi Road, Perambalur has been flooding adjacent residential streets for over three weeks, creating serious sanitation and public health hazard. Problem description: - Gandhi Road main storm drain is completely blocked with silt, garbage and construction debris - Overflow water entering 6 residential streets: Gandhi Road 1st to 4th cross streets, Nehru Street, and Ambedkar Nagar Main Road - Water stagnation depth: 3–6 inches in worst affected areas - Mosquito larvae visible in stagnant water — dengue outbreak risk - Foul smell affecting approximately 400 households - Elderly residents unable to step out safely Complaints filed: - Perambalur Municipality: September 1, 2026 — no action - District Health Officer regarding mosquito breeding: September 8 — inspection promised, not done Rainy season concern: With Northeast Monsoon approaching, this situation will become catastrophic without immediate drain desilting.
