TWAD Pipeline Leak Wastes Lakhs of Litres Daily on Vellore Katpadi Road
A major TWAD water pipeline leak on Katpadi Road, Vellore near the Railway Over Bridge has been wasting an estimated 2–3 lakh litres of water daily for the past 10 days with no repair action taken. Leak details: - Location: Katpadi Road, 300 metres before Railway Over Bridge, near Petrol Bunk - A 12-inch main transmission pipe has a visible crack causing constant water gushing - Water flowing onto road surface causing traffic hazard and road damage - Estimated wastage: 2–3 lakh litres per day based on flow rate - Complaints filed on September 5 and September 10 — no inspection done Irony: While this water is being wasted on the road, several colonies in Vellore town including Sathuvachari and Kosapadi are receiving water supply only once in 3 days. Environmental impact: Road surface near the leak has completely deteriorated. Water logging attracting mosquitoes and creating dengue risk in the area.
